John Vogel, Director of the DCCC (Democrat Congressional Campaign Committee) sent out an email today touting their ‘Thanksgiving Cheat Sheet’ (stop laughing… they are serious). Part of the email is below:
“Picture this. You’re settling in at the table on Thursday and in between shouts of “please pass the mashed potatoes,” one of your relatives starts repeating one of Sarah Palin‘s lies, or some ludicrous accusation about President Obama that he heard at a tea party rally or on Rush Limbaugh‘s radio show.
To make sure that you’re ready to talk politics with all of your obnoxious Republican relatives this Thanksgiving, we’re proud to bring you a special pre-Turkey Day edition of @Stake.
Return of the DCCC‘s Thanksgiving Cheat Sheet
You just know it’s bound to happen, especially after an election season as heated as this one was. That Republican relative we all have is going to show up at Thanksgiving and start parroting lies about Democrats that he heard on Fox News or from one of those shadow group attack ads he saw on TV during the campaign.
That’s why we’re proud to bring back the DCCC’s Thanksgiving Cheat Sheet. The Cheat Sheet will arm you with the real facts so you can answer back with the truth as soon as your Republican relatives start sounding like Sarah Palin.”

You can now resume your laughter. The most hilarious part about this email is the actual ‘Cheat Sheet’ itself!! Below are just a few of what Vogel calls ‘facts’ that he is telling witless Democrats to use against informed Conservatives (my comments and responses are below each ‘fact’):
2010 DCCC Thanksgiving Cheat Sheet
Tired of relatives doing their Rush Limbaugh impression at the Thanksgiving table? Come prepared: Use our cheat sheet below and tell them some of the major accomplishments Democrats achieved over the last two years.
Democratic Accomplishments from 2009-2010:
Health Insurance Reform, to recognize health care as a right, not a privilege and put a stop to the worst abuses by insurance companies including discrimination against people with pre-existing medical conditions. [OPPOSED BY 100 % OF HOUSE REPUBLICANS] Pull out your pocket Constitution and ask any Democrat dumb enough to use this ‘fact’ where it is stated in the Constitution that #1 health care is a right and #2 it’s the federal government’s role (aka taxpayers) to provide said health care. Also ask the Democrat that if Obamacare is so damn good why did Harry Reid have to bribe many Democrats in the Senate (with OUR tax dollars) in order to get their votes?
The Economic Recovery Act, to save and create millions of jobs and cut taxes for 98 percent of Americans. [OPPOSED BY 100 % OF HOUSE REPUBLICANS] ROFLMAO… well you can’t just actually laugh in their face, that would be rude however, remind them that Obama shoved this down our throats and fear mongered people into believing that the Unemployment rate wouldn’t go past 8% if they passed the Porkulus bill NOW! Then ask if they know what the average unemployment rate has been since the ARRA passed. Also, remind the Democrat that it’s only 95% of people who got a tax BREAK of $12/week. It is not a tax cut since it goes away within a couple of years and incrementally gets less - next year people will see maybe $8/week rather than $12.
Also just as an added bonus, ask the Democrat if they think spending $800,000 of ‘Stimulus’ money to teach men in Africa how to properly wash their ‘junk’ is helping the United States economy.
The Student Aid and Fiscal Responsibility Act, to make the largest investment in college aid in American history. [OPPOSED BY 100 % OF HOUSE REPUBLICANS] Ask the Democrat how the Post Office is doing (they reported over $8 billion in lossesjust in 2009 ), remind them that this Act not only killed thousands of jobs in the private sector student loan industry but the Federal Government (who runs the post office) will now be completely in charge of student loans.
Wall Street Reform,to rein in reckless practices on Wall Street, end taxpayer-funded bail-outs and “too big to fail” institutions, and protect and empower consumers. [OPPOSED BY A MAJORITY OF HOUSE REPUBLICANS] Ask the Democrat if they’ve ever heard of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Then ask if they know that neither company is in the ‘Wall Street Reform’ bill – the two companies that we are spending billions of taxpayer dollars to bail out and neither are subject to reforms yet both had a HUGE role in the financial mess we are in today.
Extension of Unemployment Benefits,to extend benefits to millions of Americans who have lost their jobs in the Bush recession and to stimulate economic activity. Tell them they need to look up the fact that extending unemployment benefits continuously actually increases unemployment. It has been proven that when unemployment benefits run out, people get jobs. Continuously extending unemployment allows people to not bother looking for jobs for a much longer period of time. Feel free to laugh at them if they say that extending unemployment actually stimulates economic activity (as compared to having a JOB???)
Cash for Clunkers, to jumpstart America’s auto industry and spur the sale of 700,000 new vehicles. [OPPOSED BY A MAJORITY OF HOUSE REPUBLICANS] Cash for Clunkers actually COST the taxpayers $24,000 for each vehicle!! Not only was this a huge waste of taxpayer money but many of the cars that were traded in were in perfect condition but had to be ‘junked’ as part of the deal. So not only is that a waste of taxpayer dollars but it filled junkyards and screwed over the Used Auto Industry!
Those are just a few of the tidbits that had me literally laughing out loud when I read them. Yes there are more!! These ‘facts that the DCCC has provided to Democrats will actually humiliate them if brought up at a Thanksgiving dinner against anyone who is informed – be they Republican, Independent or Libertarian.
So thanks to the DCCC, who is the ‘real’ turkey – the one sitting ON the table or the uninformed Democrat sitting AT the table? You decide.
