Senator Pamela Gorman served in the Arizona House and was elected to two terms in the Arizona Senate, and served there as the Senate Majority Whip. She is a conservative first and a Republican second.
She stands above the rest as more than a reliable conservative vote, but a thought leader who will courageously stand against her own Republican party when they lose their way.
When the Republican Governor, Republican Legislative Leadership, and the AZ GOP Chairman joined forces to pass the largest tax increase in Arizona history (during the recession), Pamela said, “No way.” While she was serving as the Senate Majority Whip, she refused to work to collect votes for this initiative. As a result, a coalition effort raised money to run deceitful ads about her, did robo calls into her district, and even gave out her personal cell phone number in an effort to bully her into supporting the tax. She didn’t budge. Then, they removed her from her committee assignments. Still, she held her ground for the promises she had made Arizona taxpayers, believing that the increase in tax burden would further extend the state’s recession, harm families, and put people out of work. On principle she stood and fought against the tax increase, never giving in to the pressure, even when it was apparent that her own political career was in jeopardy, eventually going as far as choosing to resign her leadership position as Whip, rather than go along with the tax increase.
This is the kind of strong, principled, unafraid leader we need in Washington now. No matter where you live in America, you can count on Pamela Gorman to fight for your conservative values and work to take our country back. Even if you can’t vote for her, she will vote for you!
Known for actually reading and understand the bills, Pamela has a solid conservative record to show for her years in the Arizona House and Senate. She proved herself to be more than ”dependable vote”, but a lawmaker who could build coalitions and lead on important free-market policy solutions.. She is a strong defender of the sanctity of life, the 2nd Amendment, and traditional marriage. As a fiscal conservative, she understands that preventing tax increases is only part of the problem and she fights to also reign in out of control spending by the government.
A tireless worker, she served in leadership both here in Arizona and in several multi-state policy groups where her conservative policies were adopted as model legislation across the nation.
Pamela is currently a candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives in Arizona’s 3rd Congressional District. She lives in Anthem with her teenage son, Ryan, and is a member of Calvary Community Church in Phoenix.
